Coquitlam Search and Rescue members are asking the woman who reportedly got lost at Widgeon Falls Monday afternoon to let police know if she is okay.
After more than 10 hours of searching the entire trail system — around Widgeon Lake, Widgeon Creek and Widgeon Falls 18 SAR volunteers called off their hunt early Tuesday morning after finding no-one.

They arrived at the area on the west side of Pitt Lake shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday, about an hour and a half after a hiker came across an “anxious” man who said he had been separated from his female hiking partner for more than an hour, according to SAR manager Dwight Yochim.
The panicked hiker asked the woman to paddle back to Grant Narrows Regional Park (where most people park their vehicles and where a kiosk is located) and call for help, but once rescue crews arrived, they couldn’t find the missing hiker, the man who originally reported her gone or the woman who called for help.
“We couldn’t find the hiker that she had bumped in to, we couldn’t find anyone that was missing in the trails,” Yochim said.
Teams were dropped via helicopter at the top and bottom of the trail system, at the creek and at the campsite at the base of the area. Crews searched until 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, although a camper reported he may have seen a man and woman boating after dark across Widgeon Lake towards Grant Narrows.
“It was a bit of a frustrating search with very little information,” Yochim said, noting a missing person’s report has not been filed with police. “We have a feeling though, that the subjects may have made it out and not followed up with 911.”
Anyone who has any information including the woman who originally went for help is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
The Widgeon Lake area is popular for its hiking trails but is extremely rocky, with lots of bluffs.
