    VICTORIA ? As many drivers prepare to hit the road for the last long weekend of the summer, the B.C. government is urging drivers to use caution and warning B.C.?s worst speeders that effective Sept. 20, new impoundment rules come into effect for those travelling 40 km or more over the posted speed limit.

  • PUBLIC URGED TO OBEY FIRE EVACUATION ORDERS
    VICTORIA ? Despite cooling temperatures in the province, the forest fire situation in British Columbia remains elevated and people are being urged to follow all evacuation orders by not travelling into areas where orders are still in effect.

  • EXTREME WILDFIRE ACTIVITY EXPECTED
    VICTORIA ? British Columbians are being urged to comply with evacuation orders and alerts, and to stay out of the backcountry as high winds are expected to increase aggressive fire behaviour.

  • URGENT: EVACUATION ORDER ISSUED AFTER MEAGER CREEK LANDSLIDE
    PEMBERTON ? An evacuation order has been issued by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District [?SLRD?], the Village of Pemberton and Lil?wat Nation due to the imminent breach of the dam on Meager Creek created by a large-scale landslide.

  • PROVINCE APPROVES DISASTER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
    VICTORIA - Recent heavy rainfall caused flooding in Fort St. John and has prompted the Province to respond with Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) for impacted residents.
