Coquitlam SAR was asked to assist Lions Bay SAR and North Shore Rescue in a large search for two missing teenage hikers (and their two dogs) in the area near the Lions. On a day when the weather was the worst in recent memory, and while the team was active in another search, 10 members of the team traveled to Lions Bay to begin searching the trails, and drainages near The Lions. Assisting teams that had been searching since 11:00PM the previous day, and hampered by the weather, low visibility and lack of helicopter support, a ground team found the pair a few kilometers north of the Lions, mildly hypothermic but apparently in good condition.

About 25 members responded to the Coquitlam Town Centre Firehall where they were met by a helicopter from Talon Helicopters (it should be noted that at the time 6 members were about to attend a first aid course, and several other members were training on the team's Rigid Hull Inflatable boat).
A team of three SAR members which included a Medical Doctor and a Paramedic were flown into the area, while a second team was sent by ground via the Argo 8x8 ATV. A third team of five followed in Coquitlam 2 to secure the landing zone for the helicopter, and provide support for the first two teams.
