On Saturday, February 21, Coquitlam SAR was requested by BC Ambulance to assist in locating and extricating an injured hiker in the Buntzen Lake Recreation Area.  The 21 year old hiker had suffered injuries to his face and neck after falling while hiking the Buntzen Lake Trail.  Park Wardens located the hiker near the North Beach and initiated first aid.  Coquitlam SAR members arrived on scene and continued treating the hiker while preparing him for transport.  The hiker was evacuated by stretcher to a waiting ambulance shortly after nightfall.
