On Monday, Coquitlam
Search and Rescue was contacted by the Burnaby RCMP to assist in
the search for a missing 18 year old from Burnaby.
Don Seki, the
manager for the search said, "The RCMP contacted us in relation to the missing
18 year old Bryan Braumberger. They had a large wooded area that they needed
searched. The area is located between where Bryan's car was found and his home.
The thought is he could have fallen and hurt himself in that
area."
The search started
Monday afternoon and went until dark. Coquitlam SAR brought out 12 people that
night and covered off a significant portion of the area. The search continued
Tuesday evening with 25 searchers covering the entire area. "The terrain was
more difficult than we originally imagined," Seki said. "There was a lot of
heavy brush, high grass, swampy areas and ravines. We were able to bring out enough resources to cover
the areas highlighted by the Burnaby RCMP and more."
Seki
continued, "Over the past few years Coquitlam SAR has worked very closely with
the Burnaby RCMP on several searches within Burnaby's city boundaries. We are able to supply support to
Burnaby as well as New Westminster and the Tri-City areas. Now we are facing the
potential for flooding, which we have been preparing
for."
Please call Crimestoppers 1-800-222-8477 if you have any informaiton on Brian's whereabouts, or contact your local police.
