Coquitlam SAR members found a Christmas gift in our stocking this week with the arrival of our newest piece of equipment: A new Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Side-by-side UTV (Utility Task Vehicle).

Coquitlam SAR is very happy to announce that Emergency Management British Columbia has agreed to support our proposed pilot program to use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or “drones”) for Search and Rescue.
Coquitlam Search & Rescue’s new, state of the art, Mobile Command Centre (MCC) is on the road, and a formal dedication ceremony to celebrate this accomplishment is being held at Town Centre Firehall Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 1:00 until 3:00 pm.
Team members have been back and forth to Intercontinental Truck Body every week or so to check on the development of the truck and body, and to make minor changes and adjustments and we’re getting very excited by the progress we’ve seen. After working on this project since 2012 it is encouraging to see the vision becoming a reality.
